This is TRIPWIRE, coming at you from Hampshire, Illinois in the United States of America. The band is made up of vocalist and lyricist, Joel Mc Mullin, guitarist and songwriter, Josh Johnson, bassist, Jeremy Field, and drummer, Jake Fredrickson.
The band was originally started by Joel and Josh in 1999 when they still attended high school. By playing in Joel's garage, they came up with songs which they hoped to someday share with the rest of the world. To do this, they put a band together which consisted of stepbrothers; Pat Carroll, rhythm guitarist and Nick Holland (Shandy), drummer. A couple months later they found bassist Jeremy Field, and the band TRIPWIRE was formed. Within a year and a half they recorded two demos, each consisting of three songs. Shortly after recording their second demo, drummer Shandy relocated to a different state. This caused personal issues between band members, and as a result, Pat Carroll also had to leave the group. They quickly replaced Shandy with Jake Fredrickson, former Twin Factor drummer. It took only a few months for them to get back into the flow of things. By practicing often and playing more shows, they progressed both musically and publicly.
The music of TRIPWIRE combines the new age metal sound with a touch of hardcore rap. With simple bass, distorted guitar riffs, creative drum beats, and the emotions that Joel expresses through his lyrics, makes them stand out in the local band scene. You never know what to expect when seeing a live show. Whether it's green hair, masks, fake blood, stage props, painted faces, or stockings over their heads, this band puts on one of the best local shows in their area. There is so much energy on stage that you can't help but move around or jump into the mosh pit.
TRIPWIRE plans to keep moving forward. They just signed a contract with Talent 2K out of Sun City, Arizona and are waiting to see what happens. If all goes well, they will be recording a full-length CD and opening for bigger and better bands. No matter what is to come, they will not stop doing what they do: writing music and playing shows.
