Pottiffer’s Penny is a 3 piece unsigned hard rock band from Yorkville, Illinois, a small town 40 miles west of Chicago. The sound of the band is often described as “Undefined”.
Six years in the making, Pottiffer’s Penny has grown into a stong live act, culitvating a cult-like following and a growing reputation amongst musicians and fans alike, playing venues all over Illinois, as well as its’s surrounding states.. From bars to clubs to venues to festivals to parties to colleges and high schools, there is no gig too big, or too small for this band. Although the band has been able to accomplish these feats on thier own, through years of Do-it-yourself tactics, they continue to search for representation, to take their music to the next level.. Notable venues played include U.S Beer Company and Hard Rock Cafe in Chicago, Penny Road Pub in Barrington, Canopy Club in Champaign, Champs in Burbank(where the band frequents as the house band) Rockhouse Grill in Rolling Meadows, Oasis 160 in Chicago Heights, Northern Illinois Universtiy and Otto’s in Dekalb, Klub Phenomenon in Freeport, as well as Rockhouse USA in Aurora, where Pottiffer’s Penny has the 2nd highest draw in the venue’s history.
Pottiffer’s Penny has teamed up with a number of big name national and local acts to do shows with including Local H, Head On, Premium, Swizzle Tree, Ophur, Escape From Earth, Blackmaker, Left Setter and Wish Radio Stations all over America, have given P.P great critical aclaim as well as support and airplay, including the #1 Alternative station in chicago, WKQX-Q101..Stations giving play in their regular rotation include WMUR in Milwaukee, WI and WONC in Naperville, IL. College stations from states ranging from Wisconsin to Illinois to Indiana, have added P.P to their playlist. While currently recording their 3rd release, the band has distributed over 3000 copies of their 5 song demo, and their newest E.P, “Crippled March” through local record stores and live shows. 2002 has been a busy year for the band, with gigs all over the state and beyond..With a tentative release our the next e.p due out in winter, the band still actively seeks management, and label representation.. Staying true to their sound, the band prides itself on making original music that speaks for the underdogs...and not folding to the pressure of making mainstream music. Not heavy enough to be considered metal, and not light enough to be in the pop category, Pottiffer’s Penny is proud to be “undefined”.
