Kevin Gillespie and Brian Fuller formed Paragon X in March of 2001. Paragon X started as a duo, but quickly realized they needed another guitarist. That other guitarist was Nick Kolovos. Nick was a long time friend of the two who was known for sensational guitar playing skills. Nick had also been in several other bands with Kevin and Brian.
The first day that Paragon X came together, they began writing Masked Conspiracy, their first original. After they had met on several occasions, they decided that it was time for a bass player and a singer. These people had to be good and able to sacrifice.
They found what was needed in Bob Sershon (2001-present) and Paul Wallenberg (2001-2002). After this formation, Paragon X had the driving drums, screaming leads, spiraling riffs, insane bass-work, and the menacing roar that had always been dreamed of. Unfortunately Paragon X had only one original song and no gigs. Paragon X then began writing more songs and deciding where to play. They wrote and (re) wrote the three songs: Masked Conspiracy, Different Minds Alike, and Ignorance. Following this, Paragon X went on to win the 2002 Notre Dame - Battle of the Bands.
Following this triumph, more gigs and songs were needed to be successful, therefore, Paragon X wrote Ignorance, their 3rd original song. After the completion of Ignorance, they decided to play in the St. Patrick - Talent show in March of 2002. This was also a success. On June 14th, 2002, they played the infamous "Backyard Fiasco", in drummer Kevin Gillespie's backyard. Two bands had dropped from the bill the week prior to the event, so this had left Paragon X all alone. On the day of the concert another band graciously filled in. The boys of Paragon X were elated. To make up for all the problems, Paragon X played for an hour and a half, quite the long set!
In August they recorded our first 3-song demo, in hopes for more recognition. Demos were passed out and the reaction was better than expected. In November they added bassist Dan Wonsover. Hope you enjoy. We are currently looking for more gigs.
